Not that there’s anything wrong with it, or with any one of thousands of jobs we fall into as a result of not understanding why we’re on this planet. But knowing you have unique gifts and a finite amount of time to share them with us, my question is this:
Do you really want to get to the end of your life and regret the life you’ve lived?
Don’t believe that’s gonna happen? If you’ve read Bronnie Ware’s book, The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying,” you know there’s a better-than-average chance that most of us will regret not living the life we wanted to live and choosing, instead, the life we were expected to live. That’s what caused me to quit my last job as a prison guard, well that and getting caught up in a riot, when I was 28. The money was good, but I knew there had to be more to life than just paying the bills.
Mark Twain wrote, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”
With Twain’s quote in mind, let me ask you this:
Why are you here? Not here reading these words. I mean, why are you on this planet? Are you here to do a job that fills your bank account but bankrupts your Soul? Are you here to comply with the social mores about what it means to be a working adult in the world? Or are you here to create a spark of passion and purpose that will grow into a fire that lights the way for the rest of us?
As I leave this world for my next adventure I want the Universe, who held me in Her arms before releasing me into the world so many decades ago, to gather me back into Her arms…look at me…smile and say, “Well done, Martin! Welcome home!”
That is what I want for you as well! Because we need your gifts now more than ever!
